On 22 July, a working group of knowledgeable staff was set up within the SCC in order to properly fulfil the tasks and obligations arising from the customs system development directions defined by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, as well as to prepare measures for creating a customs model that meets modern challenges, raising the level of transparency and satisfaction, and further improving the business environment.
Within a short time, the working group prepared a corresponding conceptual document and a draft road map defining the goals of the State Customs Committee for the coming years, the measures to eliminate weaknesses and the steps aimed at development; on 3 August these were submitted for broad discussion within the SCC. During the discussions, an exchange of views took place on the functional areas of activity for defining strategic goals and on the priorities of the work ahead, and it was planned to complete and adopt the document as soon as possible, taking the proposals into account, and to begin implementing specific measures.
