On 25 July, a working meeting was held at the State Customs Committee with the participation of the heads of the main departments and of the independent departments and divisions responsible for various areas of customs, and of the First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee and acting Chairman, Shahin Baghirov.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General of the Customs Service Shahin Baghirov conveyed the instruction to carry out the work required in the customs service in line with the assignments and directions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan — creating a customs service that meets modern requirements, ensuring transparency, applying rational customs procedures, raising the level of satisfaction and advancing the development direction of greatest importance for our country — and gave instructions to define the main strategic goals on the basis of these principles.
Specific instructions were given on changing the current situation, which does not meet today’s requirements, as quickly as possible; on changing the approach to work so that the customs service develops in line with modern challenges; on determining priorities when planning activities by carrying out analytical studies and examining needs; on creating, through an improved personnel policy, a career development environment only for staff with knowledge and experience; on comprehensive compliance with ethical conduct; on ensuring that the software used in customs work is convenient and accessible; on carrying out all control methods and the clearance process on an electronic basis; and on implementing measures to create a sound business environment.
